| Membership Requirements
We are the Tri-Cities Home Educators or TCHE for short. We have been an organization since 1991. Our group has grown to over 250 families covering the Chester, Petersburg, Colonial Heights, Hopewell, Ft. Lee, Prince George, Dinwiddie, Sussex, Amelia, Henrico, and other surrounding areas in the central Virginia area. We are a Biblical based homeschool support group which means we uphold Christian values and beliefs. We will pray at many of our activities and always try to honor God with our behavior.
TCHE membership is open to families currently homeschooling or families planning to homeschool in the future. We have a private forum for our members to communicate homeschool issues, curriculum sales, activities, and more. A directory of registered members is provided via our forum to all members. A membership card and other information will be mailed to all members in Sept. All information within our group is private and is not to be shared with others outside our group without permission from each individual.
Memberships are $20 no matter what time of the school year you join.
* First time TCHE members will be accepted starting in April for the following school year.
Past TCHE members may renew their memberships for 2008-2009 starting in June of 2008. If you renew after the Aug. 31st deadline you may experience an interruption in your activation on the TCHE forum. If you join late you will be added to the TCHE Members Forum and receive the other TCHE information but your information will not be added to the directory until Feb. 09. Memberships are not accepted from previous TCHE members after Jan. for the current school year, you may renew again in June for the next school year. Please fill out the registration form pages and mail to the address on the form with a check enclosed, made payable to Tri-Cities Home Educators.
We work closely with the state homeschool group HEAV, Home Educators Association of Virginia. We suggest that members join HSLDA, Home School Legal Defense Association and HEAV. Membership in both of these organizations benefits homeschoolers in our state and around the country. These organizations work hard to protect our right to homeschool our children. Members of TCHE will receive a discount number for membership with HSLDA.
TCHE has meetings on the third Monday of each month. Visitors are welcome. We currently meet at Colonial Heights Baptist Church at 7:00 PM. Children are welcome if other arrangements cannot be made or it is a family night but they will need to stay in the meeting area with their parents and play quietly. Please check the website monthly for updates and schedule.
Sincerely,
Ann Hoopsick, TCHE Support Group Leader leader@tcheofva.org
